Australia arrived yesterday with a strong contingent of 30 players and officials ahead of the Trans Pacific Cup three-match mixed and men’s netball series against the Papua New Guinea Maleos.
Tour manager Karen Wild said Australia had been training hard and were excited to be in the country.
“We are looking forward to the two countries to come together to play an amazing sport and build our friendship, so we can come back next time,” she said.
Wild said the climates should not be much of a problem to them.
“The Victorians are looking to getting warm and the rest are just happy to be here,” she said.
“We are just hoping to have fun, play some good netball and meet new people.”
Australia will use the next two days to finalise preparations before the three-day series begins with the opening ceremony on Thursday.
PNG Mixed and Men’s Netball Association president Adam Parker, Maleos men’s coach Lawrence Lahari and a few national players were at the airport to welcome Australia.
Parker was pleased that Australia had arrived safely and hoped that the tournament would turn out well.
