 AUSTRALIAN Governor-General Quentin Bryce will visit the country this week to participate in various ANZAC Day celebrations.

She will hold formal meetings with Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and East New Britain Governor Ereman ToBaining Jr.

She will also take part in a roundtable meeting with local women at Parliament House. 

On Thursday, she will honour the services and lives of Australian defence force personnel during World War II at the Anzac Day dawn service at the Bomana Commonwealth war cemetery and memorial in Port Moresby.

Bryce will travel to Isurava on the Kokoda track to attend an Anzac Day service commemorating the bravery of Australian soldiers, including Private Bruce Kingsbury VC who was killed in Isurava in 1942. 

She will lay a wreath at a memorial in Kokoda and meet trekkers and members of the community.

Bryce will also visit some Australian-funded health and education project sites in Kokopo, East New Britian.

She will also visit Milne Bay where the battle of 1942 was fought.
