Aust police gives bus to forensic science service
National Forensic Science Service (NFSS) of the Royal PNG Constabulary will now have its own crime scene bus – thanks to Australian Federal Police (AFP).
The AFP donated the bus through the PNG-Australia Policing Partnership programme.
Chief of NFSS Philip Rambaliku thanked the AFP command in Port Moresby, saying that the bus would help build capacity of the service.
“The bus will be used as our 24/7 crime scene vehicle to help secure, preserve and collect exhibits in order to connect offenders to the crime and also present evidence before the court of law,” he said.
“We thank the AFP for the timely donation, as currently our vehicle in still in the workshop for repair.”
Rambaliku said that the donation would assist them to deliver and enhance professional forensic capabilities as they were the nerve centre of solving all crimes.
He thanked the AFP and said that he was looking forward to working in partnership with them.
AFP assistant commissioner Bruce Giles said that the bus was donated under the PNG-Australia Policing Partnership programme.
“This is one of many more donations to come,” he said.
