AUSTRALIA donated three laptops to the Bougainville Women’s Federation to help widen its connectivity and networking with district and regional women organisations.
Australian High Commission’s Annie Hildebrand handed over the laptops to federation president Priscilla Bisiro and other leaders in Buka early this month.
As the federation continues to expand, the laptops would help members connect with and coordinate the federation’s programmes with regional offices in North, Central and South Bougainville.
Bisiro said the laptops would enhance the work of women leaders at the district level.
“The federation will now be able to keep proper records for each district women association and the three regional offices as well,” she said.
Federation North Regional Office vice-president Helen Siumana said access to technology would help to develop computer literacy among members, enhance skills development and facilitate more flexible working arrangements.
“The laptops will mean meetings with executives can be held via online or video conferencing, Zoom and Webex, instead of having to travel to Buka,” she said.
