Australian family visits district to help promote tourism

AN Australian family visited Gobari Ex-Servicemen’s Block outside Lae on Saturday in a bid to promote tourism in the area.
Gobari is in ward 13, Ahi local-level government, Nawaeb district.
Australian artist Lesa Waup, daughters Kaiit and Braam, and son Kanani, were welcomed by local people at Gobari.
They were there to witness the work of their father, Naup Waup, who is promoting tourism in Nawaeb district with the help of Morobe Arts.
Naup and her children were welcomed by Nabak Traditional Culture Group.
Group chairman Nathan Bataningke, who was on hand to receive the family, said their visit marked a further step in the development of tourism industry in Nawaeb.
“This gives us locals confidence to work closely with relevant authorities to see that tourism reaches another level,” he said.
Bataningke acknowledged the hard work of his cultural group.
He thanked the Morobe arts office for technical support to develop the industry.
