Authoirty appoints acting CEO for hospital

 UNIVERSITY of Goroka executive Joshua Soso has been named the new acting chief executive of the Eastern Highlands provincial health authority.

Authority chairman Malcolm Kela Smith made the announcement to staff and stakeholders at the provincial hospital mess in Goroka last week. 

Soso replaces Dr Leonard Numu Kaupa, who was acting in the position for the last six months.

Soso is an accountant by profession and comes with a wealth of experience in the private and public sectors.  

He also holds an executive masters in business administration from the University of Papua New Guinea. 

He was treasurer at the University of Goroka, and deputy chairman of the provincial health authority prior to his appointment.

Soso urged the board, management and staff of the authority to work together with his team and provide services to the people. 

He said his short-term aim was to implement cost saving measures; improve the level of performance and effectively; implement budgeting via cost measures;  staff restructure; draw up corporate plan; do internal and external audit and instil discipline.
