Ambunti-Dreikikir has bought K69,000 worth of materials for the district clean-up programme, administrator Ricky Wobar says.
“The materials have been bought to help the town clean up service,” he said.
“Funding was authorised by our MP Johnson Wapunai for clean-up in both Ambunti and Dreikikir.
“We have already transported materials for Ambunti up to the district but yet to do so for Dreikikir since some materials are out of stock.
“Once the materials are in stock we will transport them to Dreikikir as well.”
Wobar said the materials include lawn mowers, brush cutters, rakes and other cleaning equipment that would be used to clean the district.
Chairman for Sepik wetlands management initiative Jerry Wana said the clean-up work for Ambunti station would be done at the district office, health centre, high school and around town.
“Work will start as soon as the people on the ground organise themselves,” he said.
Wana said that a generator was bought to power the district administration office.
Meanwhile, PNG Power Ltd (PPL) will be visiting Ambunti station this week to check on the damaged service lines.
Wobar said: “They will be conducting scoping and will assess the damage and the cost involved in repairing the power lines.”
“All our lines are down have fallen so PNG power will do a proper assessment so that we can connect power back to the station.”
