THE PNG Immigration and Citizenship Authority is working with the Finance Department to set up an account where they can collect payments in US dollars. Chief Migration officer Stanis Hulahau said the authority was transitioning from manual processing of its products to digital, and most of its products such as visas could be uploaded online. “In 2018, much of our products, particularly our visas, have been uploaded online and we are looking at transforming much of our products digitally,” he said. “Our organisation understands the challenges that the country is going through in collecting foreign currency. “But we do not have an account to collect US dollars. “We are liaising with the Finance Department to establish an account where we get payments for our products, particularly visa, in US dollars. “(This is) because most of our products online are charged in US dollars.”  Hulahau said the authority had also developed a sponsor portal for its agents and major clients. “We are looking at major agents or companies applying for visas online but sit in the comfort of their office to apply rather than coming to our offices to apply.” Hulahau said a project the authority was looking at was to introduce a premium service for corporate clients. “Our major clients, mostly big companies, can be members and served differently,” he said.
