THE National Capital District Commission Health Authority has given clearance for students to resume classes at the Ward Strip Demonstration Primary School today.
The authority on Friday lifted a closure notice imposed on the school after it was satisfied with the renovations done to the school’s toilet facilities.
The health authority had ordered the school to close since Feb 4, after it found that the toilet facilities posed a health hazard to students.
Environmental health officers George Karaliyo and Jonathan Nero said the school management had complied with the recommendations made for work to the toilet facilities.
The scope of refurbishment work included clearing toilet blockage and back-flowing, instalments of defective toilets and closet doors.
Both men commended the school management for working to address the health issues.
“As for the refurbished toilet block, this authority is satisfied with the remedial work carried out and now formally declares the lifting of the indefinite closure notice to allow resumption of classes as of today,” it stated in a letter from the authority to the school management.
Head teacher Rotona Girana advised parents to ensure their children returned to classes today.
