Authority gives K41,000 for campaign’s independence celebration
THE Amazing Port Moresby Campaign received K41,000 from the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority for their Independence Festival this weekend.
“We are grateful TPA recognises Port Moresby as a tourism destination,” Amazing Port Moresby campaign director, Fazilah Bazari said when receiving the cheque in Port Moresby, yesterday.
“Like any other cultural festival in the country, TPA’s support and partnership in this festival to promote Port Moresby can also erase the current negative views of the city.
“We have the parks, war cemetery and many other beautiful sites in the nation’s capital that people can travel to see and enjoy.”
The campaign aimed at creating a better image for the city, was excited the authority stepped in to support the group to showcase what Port Moresby could give as a travel destination.
The Amazing Port Moresby will feature cultural performances, contemporary performing artists, demonstrations and displays.
PNGTPA’s marketing and research director Alice Kuaningi said the National Capital District was a central hub and the capital city comprised international residents, visitors and locals who are from all over Papua New Guinea.
“Visitors come to PNG to experience our unique cultures, traditions, and way of life and try out some of our unique tourism products from the marine environment of the coast to the lush and virgin rainforests of the mountains,” Kuaningi said.
