Authority needs to check vehicles

I REFER to an article “City police get tough on PMV drivers” (The National, Jan 16). This article brings to mind something the Road Transport Authority and Traffic police always fail to do.
Most often, you see them checking safety stickers and registration dates only at check points.
However, they to check head lights, blinkers, wipers, horns, break lights, smooth tyres, broken front and back wind shield, etc…
These are some of the major cause of road accidents.
Please ensure you do your job thoroughly and properly to ensure safety of all moving vehicles and most importantly that of the passengers.
