Autonomy for Manus unrealistic

Letters

I AM writing to question the team that is going around Manus Island giving awareness and getting views of people on economic autonomy for Manus province.
The team was organised by the Manus provincial government getting views of people on what they think about this idea of Manus getting economic autonomy.
For Manus to claim economic autonomy is unrealistic as Manus does not have a project on the ground that can generate income for the province.
Other provinces like East and West New Britain they have cocoa and copra or LNG,
Those provinces can call for economic autonomy but for Manus it is unrealistic.
The leaders of the province had to consider carefully before making such moves to claim autonomy.
The team has been funded some K200,000 to carry out this awareness programme and it started two weeks ago and will end in October.
We want to know the economic project that the people leading this idea have in mind for autonomy.
