Award winning businesswoman aims high

Business

A LOCAL businesswoman filled with new ideas of producing consumer goods has set her sights on bigger goals for her business.
Kumul Organics owner Tina Manamb was awarded the best Skin and Hair Care Product of the year late last month at the inaugural PNG Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Awards.
“Winning the Best Skin and Hair Care Product Award was very emotional which made me realise I have done a lot for my people back home in Madang,” Manamb said.
Her business specialises in producing virgin coconut oil, organic soaps, oils, and skin and hair care products.
Manamb said it was one of her goals as a business owner to open a factory so farmers would not go through the challenge to bring their products into town.
“The factory would create job opportunities for my people,” she said.
“I am currently looking for funding to make this dream a reality.”
Manamb was part of the Australian Awards Scholarship recipient who graduated with a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation from the University of Sunshine Coast in 2017.
The PNG-Australia Partnership had supported three out of the 10 awards given at the SME Awards.
Australian High Commissioner Jon Philp said Australia’s support to PNG’s SME sector was a vital drive for economic growth and job creation.
“The private sector is the engine of economic growth which PNG and Australia are partners to create an environment for small businesses to flourish,” he said.
