THE 2020 PNG SME Awards will recognise SME excellence, inspiring innovation and SME growth with prizes totalling K110,000.
Commerce and Industry Minister William Duma was pleased with the level of innovation in the country.
Duma reiterated the Government’s support for SMEs and wished all SMEs success.
Awards activity director Andrew Runawery said the Covid-19 had “brought out the best in a few SMEs amid very difficult circumstances”.
“The SME business breakfast has shown that we can make peanut butter, jam, coffee in bags, honey, conduct our business transaction online and more,” he said.
“These small scale emerging SME manufactures are indicating that SMEs can transcend agriculture produce and trade online.
“The awards is open to all businesses registered legitimately in PNG.
“A key consideration is the staying power where an SME nominated must have a substantiated history as an established business, including but not limited to expansion, exporting, addition of territories, or growth in square footage occupied.
“Your staying power must show that you are also legitimately residing in PNG and compliant to IPA operating parameters.”
