Awareness group takes messages to other provinces

 THE Mawa Land and Resources Awareness Organisation in Central is extending its environment programme to other provinces. 

Mawa Land and Resources Ltd  started in 2011 and is a registered local organisation lead by Mathew Karu, and resources owners in Western, Central, Hela and Southern Highlands with the aim of carrying out awareness in the country.

He said the organisation was concerned about the use of land and resources. It ensures that companies dealing with land and resources must use them sustainably.

The awareness is being carried out in areas affected by mining activities and logging such as Madang, Western, Hela and Central to educate people about protecting their natural environment.

During the recent launching of the awareness in Kupiano, Karu urged people to protect the land, rivers, sea and inhabitants. He said land was important to people because every activity that sustained life on earth depended on land.
