Awesa’s claim against commission reckless
The National, Tuesday 24th April 2012
INITIALLY I laughed at Works Minister Francis Awesa’s claim that the Electoral Commission is trying to unseat the current members of parliament (The National, April 19).
But it dawned upon me how serious the issue is.
If a minister can make such a claim, then he must also be able to back it up with evidence.
This is typical of a politician who is trying to make himself relevant and gain support from ignorant people, just like his premature announcement on withdrawing allowances from university students when they protested against the Judicial Conduct Act.
Since being appointed as the works minister, I
do not remember any
significant or important contribution Awesa has made.
He has only been puffing hot air like the accusations against the Electoral Commission.
His charge is also reckless as it could reduce the people’s trust in the commission and jeopardise the work it has done so far.
My advice to him is to keep his mouth shut.
This way, he would not continue to make himself look stupid.
