Awesa vows to get Lae, Morobe roads sealed

 WORKS Minister Francis Awesa has promised the people of Lae and Morobe that all roads in the city will be sealed.

He said more than K100 million had already been spent to improve the city roads. 

Another K130 million will be allocated later to cover all roads in the industrial hub under the supervision of the Works Department.

Awesa said the Government had learnt from its mistake when more than K140 million was wasted under the management of the departments of Finance and National Planning without any real development. 

Awesa was at the 9-Mile market for the ground-breaking ceremony for the 45km four-lane super-highway out of the city to be built by China Railway International.

“This time we are getting the design right, getting the scoping right, getting the state of concrete pavement right and, we have spent more than a K100 million already,” he said.
