WORKS Minister Francis Awesa has called on State agencies to protect and uphold the laws of the country.
Awesa said state institutions and individuals in positions of authority were expected to protect the rule of law at all times.
He said the lack of proactive action by the Univeristy of Technology and police in Lae had resulted in the death of a student and destruction to millions of taxpayer-funded properties.
“As a direct result of the Unitech situation, there is now highly volatile ethnic tension building up and that is not in the best interest of PNG.
“This is exactly what I’ve been saying of being responsible citizens and to protect our constitution.”
