AT least 42 teachers and some public servants in Bulolo have been stranded and unable to start work due to the poor condition of the Wau-Kasangare road, an elementary school teacher says.
The teacher in Kasangare in the Waria local level government area of Bulolo, Mot Sapenu, said the atrocious state of the road was delaying public servants and businesses in the area. Some have not turned up to work for nearly three months.
“The deteriorating road condition along the river banks at Biaru in Wau rural and all the way to Kasangare has badly affected travelling vehicles, and needs proper and faster upgrading work,” he said.
“I urge the authorities to direct the contractors to go and fix these affected sections to make an access for the vehicles to pass through.”
Sapenu said constant rain recently caused heavy flooding and severe landslides that washed away some sections of the road along Biaru River banks and several landslides occurred between Biaru and Kasangare. The landslides carved deep drains across the road.
“As a result, there are more than 32 teachers for four primary and 12 elementary schools who were posted to remote schools in Waria are still stranded in town.”
