TRUKAI Hoods welcome back favourite son Greg Baeau from injury for the Port Moresby cricket premier division match against United at Amini Park on Sunday.
The former Kira Kira cricket club skipper and all-rounder returns to the paddock after weeks on the sideline with injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.
Coaching staff Navu Maha said yesterday the return of Baeau would strengthen their batting line-up.
“Yeah Greg (Baeau) is back to play for his old club. He is returning from injury after a car accident,” he said.
“He had a slow recovery and we are glad he is fit to play this weekend against United.
“Greg’s return is welcome news for us as he will further strengthen our middle order.”
Baeau’s inclusion in the batting order adds to a powerful batting line-up including captain Vivian Maha, Imran Alu, Sarufa Morata and former Under 19 opener Archie Vala.
“The boys are looking forward to the game against United. This will be our second meeting since playing them in the Twenty20 competition,” Maha said.
“The players who will be leading us are skipper Vivian Maha, Imran Alu, Archie Vala and Sarufa Morata.
“Sarufa (Morata) has been our best buy and his inclusion is a plus to the team.
“We have been lacking in our bowling attack lately but our back-up bowlers were good and were bowling well.
“United are a very good side and they should give us a good challenge. We will have to do the little things right in order to be able to get a win against a competitive side like United,” Maha said.
In another fixture on Sunday, Badili Hardware Wanderers meet Kempa at Colt Grounds.
Chilli Sounds Raukele meet Monier KCC at Colts Grounds and Pacific MMI Coasters face BNG Poreporena at Amini Park tomorrow.
In last weekend’s results, United beat KCC on run rate KCC 3/182 after 33 overs, United 5/130 at 24th over when rain stopped play. KCC scored at 24th over was 117.
Badili 4/60 beat Poreporena 59 all out by 6 wickets and Coasters defeated Kempa on forfeit. Kempa had only two players 15 minutes after scheduled starting time.
The Hoods and Raukele match was cancelled because Colts Ground was not suitable to play after a heavy down pour.
It will be the last round of matches this weekend. The competition will resume on Jan 7-8 after the festive season.
