Ban alcohol in institutions

Letters

SOME institutions allow students to consume alcohol.
They allow students who are under the influence of alcohol to enter their premises.
When students return to campus after a night out, they get into all sorts of disciplinary issues, resulting in many being sent home.
While this jeopardises their studies and contributes to other issues, it is something colleges knowingly allow, perhaps in the name of training our young citizens to learn to deal with alcohol.
But one cannot deny that this is costly.
Some institutions have witnessed serious issues, including deaths, attributed to alcohol consumption.
It would be right if institutions put in a “zero tolerance” policy on alcohol.
