Bank backs meet

BUSINESS processes evolve with strategic initiatives, technology and risks and is a challenge towards the audit profession, a banking official said.
Bank South Pacific senior audit officer Cathy Pataturana said that when reaffirming the bank’s support towards the annual Papua New Guinea Institute of Internal Auditors (PNGIIA).
Speaking during the presentation of a cheque for K15,000, she said the bank was happy to support a professional body that promotes international standards of best practice.
Pataturana said: “Business processes evolve with strategic initiatives, technology and risks which challenges the audit profession. The annual conference assists auditors by keeping them abreast on changes in auditing standards, acquire knowledge and to adopt practice,” she said.
Conference committee member Stotick Kaprangi thanked BSP for its assistance towards this year’s event.
This year marks a decade since the establishment of PNGIIA.
The two day event themed “Strategically Managing a Changing Environment – 10 Years Beyond”, will challenge the audit professionals to look globally at the challenges confronted and envision how internal auditing can add value to corporate governance, transparency and accountability by changing and shaping an organisation.
The conference will be held in Port Moresby with topics such as internal auditing, corporate governance, and impacts of global crisis.
