Bank installs solar lights for school

Highlands

BANK of South Pacific has installed solar lighting system at Kombolopa Secondary School on Friday as part of its community project.
Mt Hagen branch manager Theresa Pilamp said BSP is committed to seeing its customers and stakeholders looked after in the areas of education, health, environment and other areas.
“Our community initiated projects are conducted across our branches nationwide and in the Pacific region in which we operate,” Pilamp said.
“This is one way in which our staff give back to the community.
“We hope that this solar project will be of great benefit to the students and staff in the years to come.
“We appeal to you to look after this project.”
Principal Paias Wapkai thanked BSP for addressing one of the most urgent needs of the school.
“Since this school was established in 1981, there has never been any light. This school had been considered a dumping ground,” he said.
“What happens here today signals that the school is moving forward.”
Staff from the branch and the company engaged to install the lighting system, Global Power and Communication System, said the students and administration should make good use of the service.
More than 100 grade 12 students will benefit from the project to prepare for their final examination.
The students were also given the opportunity to open their Sumatin accounts.
