Bank launches cricket comp

BANK South Pacific (BSP), through its school cricket programme, launched its Kriket Blast competition with students participating in a coronavirus-safe trial at Amini Park in Port Moresby yesterday.
Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG) game development and training manager Vhyahnna Gabba said the competition would adhere to new Covid-19 safety protocols.
Boreboa and June Valley primary school students took part in yesterday’s trial.
“The BSP school cricket programme will be trialled in Port Moresby before being taken to other centres around the country,” Gabba said.
“We’ve standard operating procedures in place and we’re following them to make sure that the trials are successful. We are taking into consideration safety measures for the Covid-19.
“We’ve started with contact tracing and sanitising.
“The programme is big part of CPNG so trials are important, considering the Covid-19 situation the country and the rest of the world are facing.
“The message to other centres will be based on how effective the programme will be before expanding to those areas.
“The programme would not be possible without Bank South Pacific’s support.
“We’ve run the programme for 12 years now and BSP has been a very supportive.”
She said the programme was active in 11 centres across the country.
