Bank provides income-generating training in Enga

Three-hundred people involved in small income-generating activities received business development skills training in Wapenamanda, Enga.
The Central Bank of PNG, in partnership with its training partner Pishon Havilah Ltd, conducted three separate training sessions over the last three weeks.
They educated rural people on the importance of managing their small income-generating activities.

Mt Hagen manager Ted Vere visited Wapenamanda on Wednesday.
They talked to participants on the importance of the training received and also about saving money in banks.
Pagau told the people that the project funded, by Asian Development Bank in partnership with the Government and Australia, was implemented by the Central Bank.
It aims to educate bulk of the people in rural areas on how to manage their money properly and bring banking services closer to them.
Pagau urged them to open bank accounts with Mibank and start saving money.
Mugup said 13,000 people in the country had so far received training on business management skills.
He said the participants learnt about skills and attitudes of an entrepreneur, marketing, costing, bookkeeping, stock management and cash flow.
Mugup said they conducted financial literacy training and trained 22,000 people throughout the country before this.
He said that 40 per cent of participants were women.
Mugup said that they worked closely with Mibank.
Vere appointed a Mibank agent in Wapenamanda for the 300 participants to open their accounts.
He told the people that they only needed K10 to open accounts.
