Business

BANK South Pacific (BSP) has announced the appointment of Adam Fenech, as the bank’s group general manager for its compliance strategy business unit (SBU).
Fenech formerly served as the chief operating officer for Kina Bank before joining BSP.
From Sydney, Australia, he is no stranger to PNG, having worked with PwC (Price Waterhouse Coopers PNG) from Sept 2011 to Sept 2013 and later joined Kina Bank at the end of 2013.
With a bachelor of commerce and masters in business administration and project management, Fenech also brings to BSP 20 years of diverse leadership experience in financial services organisations, Big4 Advisory firms and technology companies. He is a member of both the Australian and PNG Institute of Company Directors, and also holds a non-executive director position on the board of PNG Registries, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ASX-listed Link Market Services.
As the Group GM Compliance, Fenech will oversee the AML/compliance business unit, audit business unit and the credit inspection business unit.
His role is to ensure that BSP continues to meet the ongoing compliance requirements, regulatory requirements and changes in the industry standards.
Fenech’s experience in the areas of operations, operational assurance, legal services, support services, project management and information technology will certainly add value to the group compliance SBU.
Group chief executive officer Robin Fleming welcomed Fenech to BSP, and said he was confident that Fenech would contribute to the bank’s capabilities and strategy delivery.
Like most Papua New Guineans, Fenech shares a passion for rugby league and is a proud supporter of the South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby league club.
His passion also extends to making a positive impact in PNG, and he is thrilled to be joining PNG’s leading bank.
