Bank staff help with college court repairs

BANK South Pacific staff have renovated basketball and volleyball courts for the Nuku Aitape Lumi United College.
BSP Aitape staff had the courts renovated with an overhaul of the surface. They installed new hoops and boards, repainted the courts and constructed seating areas for spectators.
It is part of the bank’s community projects.
Branch manager Alex Wafimbi said the staff were happy to assist the contractor carry out the repairs and construction.
Wafimbi said the project should assist in identifying local basketball talents and boosting the morale of students and staff at the college.
College director Brother Thomas Rice thanked the bank staff and assured them the facilities would be put to good use. The college was established in 2005 to cater for school dropouts through the CODE programme, with sports playing a big part in their education, Br Rice said.
BSP branches nationwide will deliver 37 community projects in education, health, environment and sports in 2014.
