A PORT Moresby bank employee has been committed to stand trial over the possession of a forged bank cheque.
Waigani Committal Court principal magistrate Cosmas Bidar last Friday found there was enough evidence to send Mary Verenagi, 26, of Maniamania village in Rigo district, Central, to face trial in the National Court at Waigani.
Bidar was told that Verenagi worked for  the Bank South Pacific as a customer services desk officer at its Boroko branch in the National Capital District.
It was alleged that Verenagi tried getting other BSP bank officers at Boroko to get a blank bank cheque stamped but they refused.
The staff had noted that the two signatures on the cheque Verenagi presented were forged signatures of two Boroko branch staff.
The cheque number also did not belong to BSP Boroko branch but to BSP’s lending support department which had been cleared on March 29. Verenagi will appear for listing in the National Court in Waigani on Oct 1.
