THE Bank South Pacific continues to invest in health, education and wellbeing of local communities in Papua New Guinea, through its support of the Kokoda Track Foundation (KTF)’s college.
The bank committed K105,000 to the foundation as platinum sponsors – backing the FODE (Flexible, Open and Distance Education) programme, health professional development and up-skilling activities delivered by the Kokoda College.
Since the partnership in 2017, the college has delivered aid and development activities in education, health, livelihood and leadership to more than 20 communities in Kokoda.
Deputy general manager (retail sales and customer service) Peter Komon said: “BSP is pleased to support the programmes not only because of our commitment to invest in the human capital of the country but also because of the dedicated staff and management of the programme despite the challenging geographic location.
“We acknowledge the support (of) this organisation in developing and delivering lasting changes in the communities,” Komon said.
“We are also pleased to contribute meaningfully to the development of communities in ensuring basic services are accessible.”
KTF general manager Anthony Nagul thanked BSP for the support to the college and acknowledged the bank’s partnership in helping to deliver these vital services in the local community.
“We are delighted that BSP continues their generous support (to) the operations of Kokoda College in Kou Kou, Oro,” he said.
“Our partnership has gone from strength to strength over the past three years.”
“With BSP’s support, KTF has delivered a range of education offerings increasing the pipeline of Community Health Workers in the region, through FODE and health-specific training. About 125 students have enrolled in the Fode programme.
