Bank wins global cricket award

THE prestigious global award, “Best Junior Participation Initiative” was presented to Bank South Pacific yesterday by Cricket PNG for successfully carrying out the School Kriket Program in 2011.
This is the second consecutive year, in which the bank’s School Kriket program has won this award globally having won it in 2010. Furthermore, this is the third consecutive year in which it has been won regionally (East-Asia Pacific).
The “Photo of the Year 2011” Award was given to Cricket PNG for a promotional shot taken by Australian photographer Mark Dadswell of a young boy participating in the School Kriket Program in Central province.
BSP’s Group Chief Financial Officer and Deputy CEO Johnson Kalo, when receiving the award, said it was rewarding to receive the award from Cricket PNG and said “we will continue to support the program and develop many more children in cricket.”
Mr Kalo praised the efforts and commitment by the staff of Cricket PNG urging them to do more in the way of such initiatives.
Cricket PNG’s general manager Greg Campbell who presented the global award said after presenting the award, “On behalf of the staff of Cricket PNG I am pleased to present this award to BSP for your continued support and we look forward to working with you in the future.”
The regional school cricket program reached 116,381 participants from 300 schools in 2011 which was more than double the figure from 2010.
