MORE than 500 believers attended a night fellowship hosted by combined Baptist churches in Goroka on Oct 5.
Thousands of people attended the fellowship which was part of a week-long gospel rally.
Rally coordinator Pr Alois Tama said the meeting was held under the theme, ‘You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free’.
Tama, of Kami Baptist Church, said the rally was a huge success with powerful sermons shared by men of God.
Pastors included Samson Bailey, of the Mambu Baptist Church; Clements Merimba, of Cornerstone Baptist Church; Pinna Minnia, of Open Bible Baptist Church; Mike Mogia, of Goroka Baptist Church; and Moses Kaeho, of the Forekamamo Baptist Church. They each had a turn to preach on different nights.
This was the second rally hosted by Baptist churches. Tthe first one was in May.
Kama said the main purpose was to reach out to the people of Goroka, Eastern Highlands and PNG “so that they may come to know the truth which would set them free”.
“The presence of the Lord was felt during the rally, which touched a good number of believers and they repented from their sins and gave their lives to God,” he said.
Despite heavy rain in Goroka on one of the nights, with a power blackout, believers stayed on with a standby generator providing electricity.
Kama said more rallies would be held next year.
