Barbaric behaviour of perpetrators must be punished, foundation says

THE barbaric and brutal behaviour of perpetrators in the recent sorcery accusation related violence (SARV) video must not go unpunished, Papua New Guinea Tribal Foundation president Gary Bustin says.
He said the Tribal Foundation and its legal team had reviewed the video that had surfaced of four women who were tortured and killed in the Kagua area of Southern Highlands after being falsely accused of sorcery. “In PNG, we have a constitution that guarantees justice and freedom for every citizen,” he said.
“The women in this video received neither justice nor freedom and it is the duty of the government to ensure that the perpetrators in this case (and every such case) are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The Tribal Foundation is looking into the matter and how we can provide support to the police and courts to ensure these perpetrators are brought to justice.”
Bustin said SARV was a burden that all Papua New Guineans would carry until it was completely removed from land.
