Barramundis fall to test class Lankan XI in last match

 THE Barramundi’s recorded their third straight loss to the star studded Sri Lanka Emerging XI in the third Twenty20 match in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Tuesday. 

PNG were bowled out for 72 chasing 145.

The Sri Lankans bosting first class cricketers and three test players in spin bowler Chamara Kapugedara, all-rounder Souraj Randiv and batsmen Dilshan Perera coasted to a commanding victory over the young PNG Barramundi outfit. 

Earlier the Hebou Barramundi’s bowlers took the challenge up to the Emerging XI and restricted them to 145 runs in 20 overs. 

The Barramundi’s bowled economically as they restricted particularly the test players to minimal score with Perera dismissed on 5, Kapugedara 17 and Randiv scoring only 6 runs in batting. 

However, inform first class player Yoshanda Lanka high scored with 51 (off 39 balls) and ensured his side put up a commanding target of 145 with a handy contribution from captain Siriwardena  with 18 runs (off 17 balls). 

The Barramundi’s top bowler was legspinner Charles Amini Jnr taking three wickets for 25 runs of his 4 overs. 

The other bowlers who contributed were John Boge Reva 2/19 of 3 overs, Kabua Vagi 2/21 of 4 overs and Willie Gavera 1/15 of 3 overs.      

The Barramundi’s batsmen however, had a hard day at the office when the Emerging XI bowlers displayed classy bowling led by first class paceman bowler K Bandara who took 3/5 in 3 overs. 

Bandara dismissed all top three Barramundis’ batsmen Assad Vala (0), Vani Vagi (0) and Chris Amini (0) for ducks in his first two overs and PNG were left reeling with only four runs on the board. 

The Barramundis lost wickets regularly when spinners Randiv and Perera were introduced.The pair had PNG in trouble at 6/48 by the 14th over. 

Tony Ura (4), Jack Vare (3), Lega Siaka (6) and Charles Amini (6) all contributed cheaply. 

Jason Kila played a lone hand scoring 30 runs of 59 balls and showed some resistance to the SL Emerging attack. PNG scored 72 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs.
