THE Barramundis have begun their first lot of practice matches, with two wins against the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association’s leading club, the Payneham Dukes Cricket Club.

In the first of the two T20 matches, the home side won the toss and decided to bat on a cold and windy morning.

Mahuru Dai opened up with his offies and struck immediately.

Willie Gavera struck in his first over to have the home side struggling in the power play overs.

The Barramundis tight bowling and fielding proved to be a handful as they restricted the home side to 105-5 off their allotted overs.

Luke Harrington top scored with 41, with James Stagg contributing 32 for the home side.

Wickets were shared among the bowlers.

In reply, Kila Pala and Tony Ura opened the innings and were cruising with the score on 36 before Pala was caught at long on for 23.

They then lost Ura (pictured left) for 16, closely followed by Charles Amini (4) to leave the game in the balance at 3/52.

Vani Vagi Morea (33 not out) and Jason Kila (32 not out) then teamed up to ensure victory with a match winning partnership of 57 off 49 balls to guide the Barras home in the second last over.

In the second match, the Barras continued where they left off in the morning game as they racked up 4/143 off their allotted overs.

Tony Ura (56) and Jack Vare (51*) (pictured)  both posted half-centuries to help build an impressive score on a slowish wicket.

The Barras then stamped their authority with the ball and in the field as they restricted the home side to 9/63 off their 20 overs.

Charles Amini (pictured right) was the pick of the bowlers with impressive figures of 4/9, while Chris Amini (2/5) and Andrew Hicks (2/15) chipped in with two wickets a piece.

The Barramuindis take on the Darren Lehman Cricket Academy today in a 50-over match.
