Basil challenged

Letters

IT is an act of rebellion for Sam Basil to openly neglect the call of his people to return to his former party (Pangu) and fulfil his promise to oust Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
The people have mandated him purposely to represent them and not to represent himself or to act in the interest of the prime minister and his party or any manner that directly poses an eminent threat against the people’s wish.
He is entirely subjected to the wish of his people who have mandated him to power and should never act otherwise.
He has won the election because he has campaigned against the prime minister and his party and the people have clearly shown their support by voting him into office.
What do the people want from him and what are their interests now?
They are earnestly calling him to return to his former party and to join with the opposition to form the new government.
That if it is the people’s wish, Basil has no power to override their say under any circumstance and that he is obliged to show his loyalty at all cost and at all times.
To do something contrary against the people’s wish is utterly immoral.
He knew that he has not done right thing and so must return to his former party as is his people’s wish.
The people are waiting for him to turn up so that they can talk it over and reach a consensus whereby they can either go by his wish or his people’s.
He should run and that he must by all means now as it is his obligation to obey and fulfil his promises so he should never hesitate to do what’s best for his people.
