BULOLO MP Sam Basil says the district administration will build essential infrastructure with or without District Services Improvement Programme (DSIP) funding.

Basil told people at the new Sambio market that the Government had still to pay the balance of 2013 funding.

“The national government still owes Bulolo people K7 million from the 2013 DSIP and K10 million from the 2014 DSIP,” he said.

He said the equal distribution of DSIP to 89 districts was endorsed and approved by Parliament but the mechanisms were abused by politicians.

“Bulolo has yet to receive its district support grants of K250,000 for 2013 and K250,00 for 2014,” Basil said.

He suggested Morobe start a campaign for financial autonomy and a state government.

He said Morobe should have financial autonomy to collect half of what was exploited by investors from its resources and contributed to national coffers so it could manage its own affairs.

District administrator Tae Gwambelek told the people displaced during the ethnic clash to return.

“There is no more fighting,” he said

“The peace committees are negotiating for an amicable solution therefore I urge those who fled  to return,” Gwambelek said.
