A BRAND new showroom in Lae for Kaikai Cookware was opened last Saturday by Bulolo MP Sam Basil.
Kaikai Cookware, a subsidiary of Barlow Industries, opened the showroom located along Heron Street in China Town.
Basil, who is also Minister for Communication and Information Technology and Energy, on behalf of Lae MP John Rosso, Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu and Lae Lord Mayor Koim Trilu Leahy, commended Barlow Industries for its contribution to the city.
He said Barlow Industries and Kaikai Cookware started operated in the very rough locations of West Taraka and China Town.
“These two areas are very difficult to run a business, taking into account security and other law-and-order issues,” he said.
“We all do appreciate your presence in the city because you employ almost 200 Papua New Guineans in your factories and outlets.
“In Papua New Guinea, everyone who is working looks after almost 10 of their relatives.
“Therefore, providing employment for 200 workers, you are indirectly looking after 2000 people or residents of Morobe.”
