DEPUTY PNG Party leader and Bulolo MP, Sam Basil, likened his re-election to parliament yesterday as the opening of the door for a PNG Party-led government.
Basil said he would have a plane and a helicopter based in Lae to round up successful MPs to form the majority for a PNG Party prime minister and government.
He said any successful independent candidate who wanted to see corrupt MPs jailed must join forces with the PNG Party as they would ensure that Task Force Sweep continued with its good work.
“I call on the other successful Morobe MPs and others to put their party affiliations aside and join forces with the PNG Party,” he said.
The second term MP said older politicians must step aside and pass the leading roles to young vibrant leaders to take the country forward.
Basil who polled 24,954 primary votes, a convincing 58.98% of the total votes cast in the electorate, was declared as MP elect by returning officer, Raune Jombat, at 4pm yesterday afternoon.
“This is a historic victory for Morobe and the Mamose region,” the jubilant MP said.
He said his re-election had now enabled him to deliver the promised services such as the K12 million water supply projects for the
townships of Wau and Bulolo.
