Battle for redemption

THE second double header of the Telikom National Soccer League in Lae tomorrow will see last weekend’s two losers, Welgris Highlanders and NC Civil Works Oro, out for pride.
They battle for redemption, while Besta PNG United will host WNB Tavur, who will play in Lae for the first time.
Welgris are playing their third consecutive match in the industrial capital and will be determined to succeed after falling to Besta (3-1) and Hekari United (6-0).
Oro will be in Lae for their second consecutive match after falling to the young Besta outfit 2-0.
Like last Saturday Oro residents of Lae turned out in numbers to cheer their team on, and there is a likelihood of West New Britons making a strong presence at the stadium to welcome and cheer on their wantoks.
Tavur drew with Eastern Stars on Wednesday in Kimbe 1-1 after coming from behind and sounded a warning to the established clubs.
Tavur coach Luke Muta, who has two sons playing in the other two Port Moresby-based franchises, is expected to put up a similar line up from their mid-week draw with Star.
Besta coach Bob Morris described their past two wins as a build-up of strength.
Morris said the confidence of players had increased.
Besta goalkeeper Benjamin Wilbert has lived up to expectations following the exit of Roland Warisen to Gigira Laitepo Morobe.
Morris said captain and striker Jamal Seeto and midfielder Jacob Sabua had matured from last season.
“Jacob played a major role in the last two matches and put a lot of work in, they both understand each other,” he said.
