Bautamabe wrong place to site Central City
The National, Wednesday September 25th, 2013
WITH the current resource boom and major developments happening in Central, I suggest that the provincial government and MPs, who have proposed to build Central City at Bautamabe, relocate it elsewhere in the province.
The proposed location is fairly close to Port Moresby and in 10 to 20 years, Central City would be another part of the big city suburb.
The surrounding vegetation and landscape is very dry and not pleasing to build such a modern city.
With a multimillion hydropower station to be built at Brown River, that is quite a positive move.
The provincial government and MPs should take this opportunity to relocate the city to Brown River and Vanapa plains as there is a lot of flat land and rivers there.
The city will also be powered with its own electricity supply and not have to rely on Rouna that has frequent power outages.
The area around Brown River and the Vanapa plains is the ideal location for Central City and one cannot go wrong with that deicsion in 20 years’ time.
Would it not be great to have the Central City built along the river banks with its own electricity and water supply?
