THE Waigani Committal Court has adjourned the case of former National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Andy Bawa for his lawyer to respond to police briefs next month.
Bawa, facing a charge of stealing more than K80,000 in Pacific Games allowances, and abuse of office, appeared in the Waigani Committal Court yesterday.
According to Magistrate Cosmas Bidar, police had served the briefs only after yesterday’s court hearing.
Bidar said Bawa’s lawyer would require some time to respond.
He adjourned the case to July 19 to allow the lawyer time to prepare submissions in response to the charges.
Bawa appeared on an extended bail.
It is alleged that between Aug 4 and Sept 30 last year,  Bawa abused his office by receiving the allowances from a provincial administration office.
