Be responsible to see outcome of corporate plans: Lupari

Chief Secretary Isaac Lupari has challenged public servants to take ownership of their responsibilities to see the results of their corporate plans.
Speaking at the launching of the Department of Personnel Management’s corporate plan, Lupari said a sense of responsibility and ownership was key.
“If you want to see the deliverables, the outcome of this plan, this is where you have to take ownership of that responsibility,” he said. “If we are not going to take ownership, then you are in the wrong place.
“Many of us have been in the public service for a long time, but the time is now to rise above and take ownership.
“To successfully deliver this plan, we have to work together, go out and be a model to the public service.”
Acting Secretary Taies Sansan said Government placed the responsibility of public service provision at district level.
Sansan said service delivery would now be the responsibility of the district administration, which would have 70 per cent of the total public service workforce at its disposal.
“Up to 90 per cent of our public service workforce will be operating at the sub-national level, and the second (provincial) and third level administration (district),” she said.
“As stewards and custodians of the Government workforce, we must be on the ground where a majority of our managers are to assist them perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
“This would be across agencies and whole-of-government effort.
“I would like to thank all staff who had collaborated well in putting this plan together and making it a reality. It is my hope that our leaders, public servants and stakeholders use the fresh ideas in this plan.”
