Beach teams back on sand

THE national beach volleyball teams recommence training today following a break with sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays at the Sir John Guise Stadium beach volleyball courts.
“There are couple of international events expected to start next month and March in Fiji and Australia which are important lead ups for our men’s and women’s teams in preparation for the Pacific Games,” PNG Volleyball Federation president Kila Dick said.
“The PNG men’s beach team is currently the team to beat for the Pacific Games so a lot will be expected from the pair that will represent us.
“I have advised all players that they will have to prove that they are worthy of selection as we are setting a goal to win the gold medal.”
Dick was critical of the selection criteria for team officials.
“The PNGVF selection criteria for the appointment of team officials for the 2019 Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa was inadequate. It was a joke for the volleyball fraternity,” he said.
