Bears look to bounce back in city women’s softball competition

PRE-SEASON finalists Bears will look to bounce back when the Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association season begins tomorrow at the Bisini Diamonds.
Last Sunday, Bears lost 5-10 in the pre-season final to Moni Plus Gazelle, who took home the Nancy Kamara Cup. This is going to be a nine team competition and a long season 2019/2020 to decide the premiership.
In the main A-Grade game, Saints face Yokomo at 4pm. Last season’s runners-up Saints should prove too strong for Yokomo and reigning premiers United Sisters should overpower Stingerz.
Mariners are expected to give Bears a run for their money while Chebu should beat Wantoks in their return after last season’s absence. Gazelle are on a bye.
On record, Sisters, Saints, Bears, Yokomo, Stingerz and Gazelle are strong title contenders but Chebu, Mariners and Wantoks should not be underestimated.
