WITH the season proper pitching off next weekend, the annual Nancy Kamara Cup finals is set for the Bisini Softball Grounds tomorrow.

Play for the cup started two weekends ago and the finals come after six outstanding games in the Port Moresby Women’s Softball (POMWSA) competition.

The Nancy Kamara Cup was first held as a preseason challenge in 1995 to commemorate the late Kamara’s achievements as an association administrator before her death in 1987.

Tomorrow, the Bears, led by key players Lisa Polum and Nadia Bais, will take on Chebu in pool black, while Admiralty takes on the Stingerz in the yellow pool on diamond two.

Defending season champions United Sisters will go up against newcomers in the competition, Yokomo in the black pool in the earlier match on diamond three.

Sisters will then take on Gazelle on diamond two at 10am.

Yokomo will face Chebu in the final pool match of the day before the finals pitch off.

There have been changes to the executive at the annual general meeting on July 28.

Bears reserve pitcher Roddie Soweni was elected POMWSA vice president and joins the team of association president Jenny Paak, treasurer Hazel Schulz and public relations officer Lisa Polum.

The season proper starts on Oct 19.
