Champions United Sisters will be determined to retain their title when they go up against the Bears in the Port Moresby women’s softball grand final at the Bisini Diamonds tomorrow.
After a gruelling season, two of the best clubs this year are left standing and only one can go home happy after the showdown.
Considered the favourites, the Sisters are oozing with firepower and big game experience.
But the Bears are no slouches, as they will be desperate to make amends for last year’s grand final heartbreak.
Both sides will be banking on their defence to get them home.
The Bears will want to put behind them the 11-3 major final loss to the Sisters and come out with renewed vigour if they are to wrestle the title from the champions.
The pitcher and catcher combination of Selina Karai and daughter Tessa along with the support of Priscilla Mocke, Helen Gebore and George Mautu on the bases will be crucial to keeping the Bears attack at bay.
Bears pitcher Rosalia Apelis and catcher Francisca Kinit should threaten the opposition, Nardia Bais, Joyce Inguba and Lisa Polum manning the bases in the seven-inning battle.
