A LOCAL woman who started her business out of sheer determination and basic skills obtained through vocational training in 1992, has just celebrated her business’ 16-year anniversary.
Owner of a beauty salon and tailoring business in Kundiawa, Chimbu, Linda Irae said she started her business in 2004.
Known as Bomaigii Beauty Salon and Tailoring, the business has been operating at four different locations in Kundiawa.
In 2012, she opened a branch in Port Moresby at Manu Auto-Port where she provided beauty services for two years.
Services included hair and beauty, tailoring, shoes and jewellery.
They have a Facebook page where they advertise their products online, attracting customers from neighbouring provinces.
“Running a business in beauty and cosmetics in a small town is expensive,” she said.
“The challenge is there but getting our clients from as far as Eastern Highlands, Jiwaka and Western Highlands is fulfilling.”
Irae plans to expand her services in the industry through her five-year business expansion plan.
