DAVID Beckham will tour the world for a new television documentary, playing seven football games in seven continents — including  Antarctica.

During the tour as a United Nations International Children’s Fund goodwill ambassador, he will visit Papua New Guinea.

The local UNICEF office in Port Moresby confirmed Beckham’s impending visit to the country but would not give details, citing security concerns.

A spokesperson for the office told The National that Beckham would travel to the country this year but would not give an exact date.

The new BBC film ‘Beckham: For the love of the game’ will feature the former English captain playing with young children in third world communities and will end where it all began for the former England captain at Old Trafford, where he plays his final game with a host of internationally renowned football legends.

According to the BBC, locations include the villages of PNG, the foothills of Nepal, the streets of Buenos Aires, the desert plains of Djibouti and the elevated pitches of Miami.

He will meet the locals and play a seven a-side or eleven a-side game with teams drawn from the community. “This epic journey will allow me to show the positive side of the game and shine a light on the passion and selflessness of people that play this sport as a force for good,” Beckham said. – UK Mirror
