SOUTH Pacific Brewery has injected K1 million to address drink driving problems in the country.
The company’s business development manager Reg Monagi said last Thursday that drink driving was a global problem.
He said the company was determined to campaign against the harmful effects of alcohol in line with the World Health Organisation’s reduction strategy.
“We have alarming statistics on alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents and it is only right that SP Brewery raises the flag on drink-driving,” Monagi said.
He said liquor bans were short-term fixes to a long-term problem, adding that such bans only encouraged illegal sale and
consumption of illegal alternatives such as homebrew.
“As of Nov 1, we will be televising and broadcasting a drink-driving campaign to remind all of us on the seriousness of drink-driving.”
The 30-second television infomercial would be aired on EMTV for the next two months.
