The group who called themselves “walking evangelists” will trek from Port Moresby on Sept 14 and arrive in Popondetta on Sept 21, three days before the crusade.
The crusade themed, “Jesus Saves”, is organised by Gospel of Victory in Ministry and will be held on Sept 25- 30.
The group which comprise of men, women and youths will be accompanied by a United church pastor and founder of the ministry Kila Rupa.
“We will be preaching the gospel to villages along the way and give away some clothes to children who might need them,” Pr Rupa said.
He said every time they walk the trail they go armed with the good news, clothes and first aid kits in case the villagers needed them.
Pr Rupa said he had been walking the track since 1985 to preach gospel to villagers who were isolated.
He said this year’s trek would also coincide with the Independence Day celebrations next Wednesday.
“This crusade is held every year around PNG.
“This is the first time we have the crusade in Oro and would like to remind everyone that the conference is open to all denominations in the province,” Pr Rupa said.
Guest speaker will be an Australian evangelist and pastor with Wings of Victory, David Beluden.
